Finding motivation to start a training program is a challenging task but creating habits that lead to lasting lifestyle changes can be even more difficult. Here are some suggestions to help you make lasting lifestyle changes.


Find a compelling reason why

The only way to ensure you prioritize working out and making healthy choices is to find a more compelling reason WHY to do it. The more reasons you have for working out, the more likely you are to make time for it in your schedule. This is the key to maintaining your fitness as a long-term lifestyle change.


Find activities you enjoy

Choose activities that you like and avoid those you don’t. If biking or running are not your thing, then there is no need to include these in your plan. People who exercise regularly say that exercising makes them feel better. If you choose to focus on the elements that you enjoy, then it will be easier to motivate yourself to participate regularly. In addition, you may also find that the exercise is enjoyable and gratifying to you.


Be patient and start slowly

When you start a new program, you can be tempted to just jump in and do all you can at once. At first, you may reduce your caloric intake, work out more, stop drinking and quit smoking at the same time. After a few days, you may discover you just can't keep up and you become overwhelmed and disheartened. Focus on making small changes that are sustainable over time.
