10 Easy Ways to Exercise More!

When life feels incredibly busy, it is hard to imagine how you can fit more exercise into your already full days.

Exercise should never be something that you dread, it is something that makes you feel good both mentally and physically. When you start to adopt some of the following techniques to fit exercise into your everyday life, you will be creating life-long habits that will leave you feeling fitter and healthier, with a smile on your face!

Here are 10 easy ways to exercise more:

1. Take the stairs instead of the lift.

It might seem quicker and easier to jump in the lift but once you’ve reached the top or bottom of the stairs, you will feel an inner achievement of taking the more active route, increasing your heart rate and getting a few extra steps in!

Choose a parking space further away from the entrance and walk that extra distance to your destination as an easy way to increase your steps!

4. Take phone calls standing up or walking around the house rather than sitting down.

Taking phone calls while standing up or walking around the house is a great way to exercise more. Getting up out of your seat each time the phone rings is a great reminder and queue to move your body and a perfect time to get moving!

8. If you work from home, set an alarm every hour to remind you to get up and move your body regularly.

Time flies when you are sat in front of a screen. The hours pass by without you noticing that you have been sat stationary for so long. Commit to regular movement breaks to help your body and mind function optimally.

9. Take a quick stretching break

A quick stretch after each meeting can help prevent common neck, shoulder and back pain from sitting by a computer for extended periods of time. It’s also another great reminder to help you move after sitting in front of your screen.

Rather than lounging on the sofa binging on Netflix for hours, force yourself to get up after each episode to move your body, even for a short period of time.
